Here at Effective Imaging we are very lucky to have a team in place who all get on so well. As a family run local business we are confident that anyone of the team will deal with our customers in the same friendly manner that we would.

We have a strong philosophy that Together Everyone achieves more and aim to develop our staff to all be able to assist each other in their respective roles.

Jonathan Ling

Managing Director

Effective Imaging is the brainchild of Jonathan Ling, the company Managing Director. A natural signage and graphics expert, Jonathan boasts over 30 years’ experience in the industry. When he’s not designing, liaising with customers or on the road overseeing installations, you can find him on the golf course or skimming the slopes on his snowboard. He is married to Sara, the company’s Business Development Manager, and they have a daughter, Amber, who is also part of the Effective Imaging team.

Katie Docwra

Sales and Marketing Manager

Katie, or ‘cousin Kate’ as she’s known around the office, joined Effective Imaging at the beginning of 2023 to take over the Sales and Marketing department. She assists Sara with business development, deals with customer enquiries and looks after the company’s marketing strategy. Outside of Effective Imaging, Katie has nearly finished her PhD in French, is a qualified translator, drinks far too much coffee and is currently pestering Harriet for crochet lessons.

Sara Docwra

Business Development Manager

Jonathan may be the boss, but Sara is the real boss at Effective Imaging! Having assisted Jonathan with setting up Effective Imaging from its earliest days, Sara left her role in the public sector in 2019 – after 23 years! – to join Jonathan full-time. Sara immediately implemented clothes printing and embroidering, committing to learning an entirely new skillset from vinyl printing and cutting to industrial embroidery. When Jonathan allows her some free time (!), she loves to travel, hatching new and exciting ideas for the business, and helping Amber at the stables.

Ricky Hodds

Sign Technician

Ricky started working for Effective Imaging in 2019 and has over 20 years’ experience working with all aspects of signage. Ricky deals with the manufacture and installation of the signage and application of vehicle graphics. He is married to Michelle and together they have a son called Seth. Like Jonathan, he can be found on the golf course in his spare time or starting Couch to 5k with Michelle. Again.

Christian Brown

Engraving Technician

Christian joined Effective Imaging in 2020 and brings over 25 years’ valuable engraving experience to the business. When he’s not engraving or designing new ideas, he assists Ricky with printing and vinyl for the signage aspect of the business. Christian is married to Clare and they have 2 sons together, Jake and Zack. Unsurprisingly, Christian is also another golf fan.

Amber Docwra

Clothing and Merchandise Manager

Amber joined Effective Imaging straight from college. A true entrepreneur, Amber had already set up two successful brands before the age of 21 and has another on the way. With her flair for business, it was only natural that Sara and Jonathan bring Amber into Effective Imaging. Amber is now responsible for the Clothing and Merchandise department and is a multi-tasking master. Outside of Effective Imaging, Amber is a qualified Equine Physiotherapist and enjoys spending time with her horse Rupert, training her dog Dolly and planning new business ideas, just like her Mum.

Harriet Jelfs

Graphic Designer

Harriet is a graduate of the University of Hertfordshire where she earned an excellent degree in Graphic Design. She joined Effective Imaging in May 2021 as a Graphic Designer for signage but soon got to work designing and printing product ranges for our sister company, Mabel Moo, an online gift and clothing store. Harriet is an extremely talented artist and can turn her hands to anything creative and crafty.

Janet Docwra

Clothing & Merchandise

Janet assists Amber in the Clothing and Merchandise department. Janet worked in the family business for over 50 years and knows what it’s like to work at pace for long hours. Janet has a real flair for language games, which results in her being a Wordle whiz, coming up with hilarious puns and writing humorous poetry. As another avid golf player, Janet fits right in with the Effective Imaging team!

Stephen Docwra

Accounts

Who better to trust with your accounts than a family member who ran a successful family business for over 50 years? Stephen is responsible for Accounts, oversees the company finances and passes on his invaluable advice to Jonathan and Sara. In his own time, Stephen is a history buff and yet another fan of golf - it’s an Effective thing! At the weekend you’ll often find Stephen propping up the 19th hole!
